Day Two

Things that made my day better:

1. Getting a laugh out of this story: This kid lives in Tacoma. Today the school's uniform was given a pass, if you wore a Seahawks jersey. This kid wore a Steelers jersey instead, and they suspended him. No kidding. Literally suspended him. So few people around here really care about the Seahawks, but now that they're in the playoffs, fans are crawling out of the woodwork. And suspending the non-conformers. All you can do is laugh.

2. Made chicken wings for supper. Skip doesn't like them, so I never make them when he's around. Mmmm...

3. Met 2 of my professors today, and was amazed at the things technology allows you to do nowadays. I video-conferenced with students in Hong Kong, Korea, New York and L.A. Amazing. I have to say that I LOVE having discussions on all these topics that are so pertinent to my profession.

4. Got to talk to my man before he went into black ops... oooooh.... (meaning the next two weeks will be zero contact.) And he sent me a picture on my phone.
He's not in the picture, which is unfortunate, but he rides in this vehicle. Which makes me happy.

5. My daughter's teacher asked me today if I would start teaching a reading intervention group. I'm really excited. It's twice a week for an hour.

Overall, a pretty good day.

I cannot believe that that child was suspended. I can't even think of anything to say...I am just stunned.

Black ops...I agree, "ooooooh"...very secret...very brave...he's a man of mystery.

You are doing a great job keeping the lonliness at bay.

An excellent Day 2! My husband has a similar story when he was a kid. He wore a Cowboys jersey in Steelers town-he didn't get suspended but he did get beat up.

I would die of two weeks with no contact. And I want your chicken wings recipe.

I had to scroll down to see if you showed us the picture that Skip sent you. I was wondering if maybe you were gonna leave us hangin' and we had to assume/guess/wonder what the picture was. You know, a "for your eyes only" kind of thing. Maybe there was one of those too, and you are too lady like to mention it on your blog!

Very exciting about the new teaching job!

Suspended, what?!?!? Unbelievable!

Your new teaching gig sounds fun, as does your MA program.

Hang in there, Skip'll be back soon enough.
