Paige and Celia sent me this gorgeous black and white bouquet of flowers with one yellow spot. Actually, I made them black and white. In case you were wondering. They smell so good, and are a breath of fresh air in this snowy, wintry state.
We went out for Mexican on Friday, since Skip was going to be gone most of the weekend. Mmmm... black bean dip... Good on Friday, bad for everyone on Saturday.
Skip loves watches, and is trying to convert me. I'm so simple, I could wear one cheap watch all the time and not care. He wants better for me. I'm willingly being made-over. I absolutely love the watch, and if I had a "style" this would be it.
Marji, my friend who does not blog, sent me a very cute hanging plaque. She was one of my first friends ever, and a true testament to her that she is still my friend. Thirty years is a long time to put up with me.
Mika surprised me with a birthday greeting in blue stones. He ran out of stones, however, and improvised the rest with chapstick, a colored pencil, and a polly pockets car door. (I have no idea where he came up with these things while laying on the floor looking under the couch.) He also gave me what he considered to be a very pretty glass sculpture of two teddy bears by a present. It's one of those "mom" gifts that you love because your child loves, and you proudly display it on the nightstand next to your bed, where company never goes.
I got lots of other things in the mail and on email (thanks for the killer CD, H-Dawg, the GENEROUS iTunes gift card Lisa, and I love the new outfit, Mom!!) People were so kind to me all month and it totally made my birthday.
But the BEST surprise, by far, came on Saturday night. I went out with my girlfriend Mindy (who is very cute, and single, so if anyone has a hook-up, bring it on) for a late supper. I got a sitter for 8:30, so the kids would all be asleep. We went out, and my husband was texting me from the mountains, asking how late we planned to stay out, if I had left the house yet, if I was on my way home yet, etc. I figured he was concerned for my safety, or worried that guys would try to hit on us because Mindy is so hot. Turns out... he had arranged with his colonel to come in early from the training exercise to surprise me! So I came home, thinking I'd find my 16 year old babysitter watching cartoons. I found candles and music and children still sleeping... and my out-of-this-world husband waiting for me.
I am so fortunate to have great friends, loving kids, and such an amazing husband.
THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who made my birthday so incredible this year. I don't know that I deserve any of it after my shameless advertising. But I enjoyed every second of it. When I tucked Keola in last night, he said, "Mom, now you're going to have to wait a REALLY long time until your next birthday. Happy Birthday!!" I think I have enough to tide me over another year. Here's to being 35!

Hooray! I am so glad that your birthday was awesome.
I don't know your husband, but I had this feeling he would come home early...what an awesome guy.
You deserved every bit of the attention and gifts! And what a perfect ending to your day! Way to go Skip!
Mika's blue stone gift is SO CUTE! What a cute idea...
And what a GREAT surprise to have your hubby home!!!
Glad you had a great day!
I'm so glad you had a great day! Don't worry about the advertising. It was really fun!
that thing looked bigger in the picture, but it is kind of cool. We are awesome.
Yay! We are the best virtual friends ever.
All I can say is does your husband offer classes? Mine could really use some help in the birthday department. SO JEALOUS.
I'm such a failure as a friend. All wraped up in my little world over here, and I didn't even send you a birthday email. I suck. Seriously.
Happy Birthday, Andrea! 35 will be good to you. ANd I swear to you, if you supply me with an address, I'll at least send you a card for your 36th birthday!
p.s. I'm not kidding here- I seriously think I used to email back and forth with Mindy a few years back on one of those LDS singles websites. Her first picture on MySpace looks very familiar! I'm sending her a MySpace friend request. Tell her to accept it!
You deserve every bit of it. Enjoy your 35th year, it was a great year for me. It was the year I grew my first chin whisker. Ha Ha I always keep a pair of tweezers cose to me, in the bathroom, office, car... seriously I never know when that sucker is going to pop out.
You really did have the best birthday!! That cake looks so delicious right now.
Wow! What an amazing birthday! And the surprise from your hubby! That is such and "aaawww" moment!!! Very cool! He gets major points for that! Good for you!
Well, I see your birthday did not suffer for my lack of participation. I even missed out on the Q/A. My excuse is that I've been busy dialating (ha!) 4 cm which I know is TMI- especially for those who don't know me. But anyway, Happy 35! With Love, Clair
My Birthday Prediction: Skip's phenomenal homecoming trick will lead to 2 divorces and 3 couples in counseling amongst your dissatisfied friends whose husbands are past the honeymoon phase.
Way to go, Skip, you jerk!
Glad your birthday was a success! You definately deserve it! So glad that Skip made it home to you!
Happy 35 to you! Looks like a great day. LOVE that chocolate cake and the happy b-day on the carpet is so sweet. I have my 34th coming up in a few weeks. I think this year I'll get excited about it.
You deserve it menina - you needed to make up for lost time anyway. I know the last several years your birthday has come and gone with no real excitement or attention so it's good to see it return to it's normal production. :) love you tcheu.
You're just a child! Loving the watch! Seriously, he's good!
