My Big, Fat, Exciting News

Remember when I mentioned my lazy days would be coming to an end in January? I was waiting for my official acceptance, which I received today. Drumroll please...

I'm going back to school!

I'm so excited. I love school, and this is a perfect time in my life to do it. I'm getting my masters in TESOL... Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

The best part is, in searching for a program that met my needs, I discovered that the University of Southern California has an ACCREDITED online program. This is fabulous because not only will it offer a more challenging course than most online programs, but it looks better on my resume. Also, I can do it all in my pajamas. Which, frankly, isn't much different than my undergraduate days... but now that I'm 37, I have an image to uphold.

Anyway. I'm thrilled. My classes will be during the days while the kids are at school, and I will be able to do all of my practicum work locally. Here's to hoping my aging brain can keep up with actual thinking. Wish me luck!!

Awesome news, my friend. You will do great and I hope this time around Mr. Chip helps write some term papers for you.

Or if that seems a bit risky, at least massage your feet while you are typing away.

I want you to know that as a Duck fan, your enrollment at USC is the one bright spot that institution holds for me.

Kidding aside, USC is a fantastic school and you have every right to be proud of yourself. I am!

Having recently returned to school myself, I salute you. You will not have the fun of sitting in classes with "kids" half your age, but it will still be great! YEA YOU!

Congratulations smarty pants! :) Online programs are fabulous! I do advising for an online 2nd bachelor's program, mostly from home, on my couch, my work attire usually consisting of sweats and slippers. Does it get any better?!?! The internet is truly a wonderful thing and I think online programs are perfect for non-traditional students. Enjoy!

SWEET!!! Another woman I admire doing something I need to do myself...Ugh! I don't think I could do school online-I'd be too tempted to watch BRAVO tv instead of my homework. I am very happy for you.

Way to go... and at least you don't have to walk to class in -20 degree temps!

And counting calories is not as hard as it sounds btw...you're already eating super healthy as per your last post, and you really have no reason to keep track of calories...you're so cute & tiny! :)

and USC - what? you're not messin around on this go around...go on with ur bad self.

Holy cow girlfriend. Why don't you just take it to the very top? I wonder if you are going to learn all different theories of SLA or if it will be all about Krashen. You rock. That is simply amazing. Now I want to go back and get my master's degree in TESOL through USC.
