Tunesday: Everything
The first time I heard of Michael Buble I was working in the back room stocking shelves at Bath and Body Works. There was this uber-Baptist chick who worked there, and while the rest of the crew was bringing in slammin hip hop and velvety RnB tracks to pass the time, she was constantly throwing on "inspriational" music. I thought she was a bit of a zealot, and she was totally obsessed with Michael Buble. So due to her need to save my soul, and the weirdness of the name "BOOBLAY", I have always avoided listening to him.
I have no idea how old or new this song is, but I recently heard it and fell in love with it. I didn't even know it was Michael BOOBLAY until I was already hooked. So he has now managed to sneak his way into my music library. Darn.
Anyway, do you ever sometimes listen to a love song from the perspective of a parent? I mean, it doesn't work for all of them, for example anything that makes reference to dimming the lights and lighting the candles wouldn't work. But this one, for the most part, makes a cool love song for your kids. We've been listening to it every morning getting ready for school, and I always make a silly point to dedicate it to my kids, and tell them that they are my everything. It's fun. Try it at your house.
PS Good luck getting past his cheezy variety-show mannerisms. You may want to leave the video playing and navigate away to a new tab, so you only listen to him. He is so Osmondesque, it's creepy.

Love song to the kids- that's totally cute. "Osmondesque-" I love it. My favorite love song for my kids is Faith Hill's Wish- I've had the darndest time trying to find the audio online but here are the lyrics- http://www.mp3lyrics.org/f/faith-hill/wish/
I was hooked on Booblay upon hearing this song too. It is catchy and sweet.
You know, he was discovered while singing at a wedding. Which completely explains his mannerisims.
I like it.
I have listened to a love song from the perspective of a parent...remember that song by Aerosmith, "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from the Armageddon soundtrack (Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis movie)? I used to sing that to Evan...how I could stay awake just to watch him sleeping and how I didn't want to miss a thing...not a single moment of his growth and development. I am glad how you mentioned this...because I thought maybe I was weird that I sang it as a lullaby rather than a love song.
You crack me up, "dimming the lights and lighting candles"...perfect description...well put...yeah, those love songs don't work for lullabies.
Love, love, love this song! I love Michael Booblay.
I wish I had half the songs on your playlist!
Z just got me a new itouch, and for some reason it is not importing my old itunes library. I have tried everything. Sooooo... I am starting from scratch again. I haven't found the time to do it, so my itouch is just SITTING in my desk not being used. :(
He is awesome. Love what you said about your kids :)
Yeah, this d-bag is the latest Utah trend. It's now officially "cool" to over-enthusiastically declare yurself a Michael Buble' fan. (You can't say "yeah I like Michael Blble'"... you have to say "OH MY GOSH I LOVE LOVE LOVE MICHAEL BUBLE HE IS SOOOOOO AWESOME!!")
Listen to Harry Connick Jr. instead. Real Jazz without the bubblegum pop feel to it. You know, with heart-rending references to women's legs and all that. Edgy, sexy jazz, the way an over-slick Jazz singer ought to do it.
FYI, this song drove me over the edgewith anger. I robbed a bank and punched an asian baby. Your fault.
So I can admit he has talent.. but can't get past the fact that he goobs me out. I'm with Happyback on this one. Harry Connick is not only cooler in general.. I find him crazy sexy. And crazy sexy is always a bonus.
I love him. My kids call him Michael Bubble.
He is so smooth. A throw back to the old crooners.
Did I mention how much I love him?
Umm, I'm not from Utah and I love him still. I've loved him since he first made a record. His Christmas CD Let it Snow is really good too.
This is song number one on my "happy tunes" playlist. It is Maya's favorite.
Once again you prove that we are connected by good taste in music.
Anyone who makes a Christmas album gets immediately crossed off my list of musicians to listen to.
And I ended my sentence with a preosition. Live with it.
Is HappyBack your brother? His comments crack me up.
I also enjoy this song. I like Booblay...but I cannot love him. I cannot love anyone whose last name does not work with my first name. (Self-inflicted rule from fourth grade.)
Can you imagine? Gabi Booblay? No.
Man, I figured HappyBack would appreciate a good BOOBLAY. You're right though, I'd much rather just listen & not watch the "cheese".
Sorry, Even when I turned by chair around and just listened to him, I could only take about 30 seconds. Give me the Celtic Women any day.
Dad
One of my favorite all time songs. My kids LOVE it, too.
It doesn't hurt that the singer is HOT.
