samie is old enough not to want something too kiddish. and she doesn't really dig on pink. noe is young enough to want something very kiddish, and is obsessed with pink. there are 2 twin sized beds in their room. i'm thinking something in some shade of purple might appease the palettes. but green is also a winner. some shade of limeish?
i do not enjoy interior decorating AT ALL. some people would consider my situation heavenly: a brand new home with lots and lots of rooms to decorate. i, on the other hand, am begging my realtor to stop asking me to make choices. the boys' rooms will be easy because i already have stuff for their beds. but the girls are going from sharing a queen bed to having their own single beds. hence the need for new bedding.
so gimme whatchya got. i know some of you are really good at this kind of stuff. if you tell me what to buy and where to buy it, i probably will. if you even find fabric, i would be happy to MAKE the quilts. some giant patchwork squares would be nice. i just loathe the process of making the choice.
thank you in advance.

I love the purple and lime green idea!! Go with that! You could even still put a splash of pink in Noe's stuff. They don't have to match exactly. Coordination is the key. Pottery Barn Kids has some way cute stuff but it can be a bit pricey. So maybe others will have better input. I tend to struggle with interior decorating too. I can decorate anything else, but a home.
sorry. i got nuthin. This is definitely not why we are friends.
I'm thinking shades of purple would look good or you could go for beach colors like sea glass greens and blues to go with the sandy color carpet. Oh Ah!!!
Make a trip to SLC, I'll go with you to pick some stuff out. Seriously. We can listen to Paul and Axl.
I do know some places that sell cool fabric that come in the patterns of greens, purples, and pinks and is not too little girl-still really fun and funky.
Also, sometimes Target has some really fantastic fabric on their quilts. It is all timing.
I know you have Utah issues, but SLC really isn't too shabby of a place to shop.
I personally like red with the tan colors although I'm anything but a design expert)...something like this may work for both age groups: http://www.target.com/Bed-by-Conran-Domino-Collection/dp/B002WTZTDK/ref=sc_qi_collection_item
Or...there's something like this that is pink but more sophisticated, so Noe could have her pink and Samie could have a more grown up look. It just depends on how much she doesn’t like pink…http://www.beyond-bedding.com/pink-brown-kids-teen-twin-bedding-set.html
Or there’s something like this Bobby Jack stuff…my 6th grader likes Bobby Jack stuff because its fun, but I forget how old Samie is so it may be too juvenile for her, but it’s not pink at all: http://www.dillards.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=301&storeId=301&langId=-1&productId=502122683
Or this is kind of cute as far as purple goes: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/bedandbath/comfortersbedspreads/bedding/teengirlbedding/PRD~c20047/Candies+Avalon+Bedding+Coordinates.jsp
Ok, I'll stop now, just thought I'd give you some ideas :-)
Fly me to where you are.
I DIG decor.
I'll do it all.
I don't know where you are..
but I will come.
For starters..
try these titles of bedding on Targets website under
"girls bedding: kids"
and look up the following bed sets,
Daphne Quilt
Catalina
Dots and Stripes
or
Bacati Valley of Flowers
None of them are too pinky.. but would go well with the tan background.. and Target's usually pretty reasonable, and has the sets that come with everything you need in one bag. I heart Target.
I'm getting giddy just thinking about a fresh new house with new carpet smell and rooms to be done.
I'm jealous.
I like the green idea...kind of a soft lime color...if that makes any sense. I say go to Target...you can get two different bed spreads that match each other, hopefully.
I am not much of a decorator, though...but I LOVE the tans and earth tones. I want to paint my house in them...with crisp white trim. Mmmmmmmmm!
Don't ask me. This just means you have to spend money and that stresses me out.
I like Calibosmom's idea of beach colors. Not pink.
Writing you an email.
This is sooooo my thing. I am going to get back to you...I know, you can hardly wait.
I'm going with beachy colors too. I ADORE pale turquoise/seafoam.
This is SOOOOOO my thing! I'm loving the green. You can add pink, purple or turquoise and it will look fabulous. Go to overstock to look for quilts. okay I'm writing you an email...I have way too much to say about this.
Umm, have you ever priced out quilt fabric? I hadn't. And commissioned my mom the quilter to make quilts for my boys' beds, thinking I'd be saving money by not buying the ones I wanted at PB Kids. Turns out, quilt fabric is SUPER expensive. I spent MORE than what I'd have spent if I just bought the quilts from PB Kids, and, truth be told, I'd have liked those a whole lot better.
Bottom line: Buy what you want. Don't think you can make it cheaper.
I go to expensive websites like pottery barn and Land of Nod for ideas and then go to Target and TJ Maxx. :)
This is so my thing. When the kids nap I will try and grab some ideas and email them to you.
Whatever. "Earthen Soil"? "Nomadic Desert"?
TAN. You have TAN.
You also have a broken shift key, so buy the cheap-o Home Depot white paint to accentuate the tan and use the savings to buy a new computer.
well, considering I just spent 4 years and $60,000 getting a degree for this stuff, call me. We'll have fun with it. Or I will anyway.
You need Carrie, she's sheer genius at this sort of thing.
See . . . I knew there was yet another reason that we are destined to be BFFs. I don't have a decorating bone in my body. I've lived in my house for 6 years and it STILL isn't decorated. Oh well.
O.K., I have to speak up, this is my area and business. Not that your life is any of my business, but I see you enough on Celia's blog. I like Red/Tan Tan/blue Tan/Aqua. All good choices. Lime is too green and will compete with the green undertones in the already brown hues in the rooms. I would stay clear of that one. I think Target is a great idea, as you can get bed spreads, sheets, throw pillows and all manner of room decor, freshly made with love in China for a a great price. Good luck! Where are you moving to?
