Why Yes, Yes It Is.

Possible questions that might be answered with the title of this post:

1. Is today March 30th?
2. Is it your BIRTHDAY?!
3. Is it absolutely fantastic for you?

A couple of years ago on my 18th birthday, my mom gave me tickets to see Paul Simon in the Rhythm of the Saints tour. To this day, that remains one of the highlights of my life. So on my birthday, I like to commemorate by listening to a little Paulo. I even have a playlist "O Melhor De Paulo" which is Portuguese for "The best of..."

After I set my playlist to start my day, I found this birthday greeting scrawled across the mirror. "I love you. Have a great birthday!" My husband leaves for work before I'm even awake, so this was a treat to wake up to. Of course the kids were appalled at the "graffiti" and the "vandalism" taking place, yet oddly eager to try it themselves. We'll see how that works out.

Also note the Happy Birthday banner he strung across our mirrors here.

My students just finished a writing unit on "ice cream." (I was tired of stories about werewolves and aliens, so I mandated a topic: ice cream. They wrote about werewolves and aliens eating ice cream.) I told them at the end of the unit, we would make ice cream. Since I can't post pictures of my students, here is my kid instead. He came into my classroom at the end of school and took charge of the leftovers. Please note the paper towels stuffed in his ears. Something went haywire with our fire alarm today, and it kept going off. Very annoying. Anyway, have I mentioned before that I LOVE my job? I mean seriously. I get PAID to help kids use proper grammar and then make ice cream. Come on.

And my fabulous coworker CJ baked cupcakes in ice cream cones. She would kill me if I put up her picture, so here's me instead, eating my cupcake in an ice cream cone. Have you ever??? Who knew! You bake the cupcake INSIDE the ice cream cone. Brilliant. MIZZB thanks you, CJ.

And of course, I got a present. These adorable children of mine gave me a NEW CHOPSTER. If you've ever had a Chopster, and it broke, and you had to try and live without it, you would know the pain. Hence the super happy face here. Chop Chop Chop at the push of a button.

My beautiful stepdaughter called and we talked for awhile. Love her. Can't wait to see them THIS THURSDAY!!
Also, a very tasty fruit torte. Or tart. Whichever works.

You should all thank this guy for treating me like royalty on my birthday. He has taken the onus off of the rest of you. He cooked tacos for supper, cleaned it all up, we're watching LOST in 45 minutes, and he has compiled a new after hours playlist for the ipod. Seriously. What a great day to be born.

Happy, Happy, Happy Birthday!!!!!! The fire alarm at school was just telling you Happy Birthday, too. I'm sorry you didn't like it...I am the one that arranged that...Okay, so I won't lie to you on your birthday...I had nothing to do with it.

You are seriously beautiful.

That picture of you with your replacement chopster made my heart happy. You look super thrilled.

I'm not sure why but I laughed out loud when I read how your students wrote stories about werewolves and aliens eating ice cream.

Thank you Skip for treating Andrea like royalty on her birthday!!

Crap! Crap! Crap! I forgot it was your birthday. Last year when I realized you and I share a birthday/anniversary day I thought I'd never forget. Not so apparently. Darn.

Well, none the less, I'm glad you had such a great day and that Skip treats you like a Queen. You deserve it.

Love the "happy about the chopper" face.

Happy Birthday!

When I was 18 I saw the rhythm of the saints tour too! Still, the best concert I have ever seen. I have always had a crush on Paul. Next time he is around let's go see him.

Note to self: Do not steal Andrea's iPod. All of the playlists are in some other language and you will not know what to play for your getaway music.

Happy birthday, old lady.

First of all- great self-mastery on holding back the birthday prelude fanfare this year. It totally snuck up on me and found me as empty handed as I was last year with the fanfare. Unfortunately, I bet you didn't get as many presents. Looks like you still scored a great day! Hooray! Oh my- mine is just a week away now! Better get that wish list made fast! (Think I'll include sku numbers this year just to make sure i get what i want. :))
and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREA!!!

Yeah, I turned 18 a couple of years ago too.

Happy Birthday, Friend!

Your husband rocks. I have to remind my husband or he forgets. That would make me pretty mad if he didn't forget his own birthday as well. Which he does.

Are cupcakes in cones my very most favorite long-lost treat kids would bring for their birthdays back in elementary school??
Why yes, yes they are. Thanks for reminding me of the fun and tastiness they are. I don't know why I've never actually tried making them myself.. but now I'm gonna! (How's THAT grammar Mz. Andrea??) So glad your big day was a good one!

I knew it was your bday, it was on my calendar. But you didn't wish me a happy bday so I didn't wish you one either. So, I'll make up for now and say happy bday, you're such a baby.

Oh, an "after hours" play list - wink, wink. Got it. Very subtle.

Happy Birthday, dear friend. Make it a good year.

WAIT.. I forgot my real motive for commenting OTHER than to join in on the birthday greetings bandwagon.. was to get in on the "after-hours" playlist!(Not literally, get IN on it.. ya perv..) I've been trying to get a list together of my own.. and all I can come up with is that 'You're Body Is A Wonderland' and 'Sexy Back'. Help a girl out??

As a mother I can only thank Skip for treating my "baby" girl so well. So Skip, a great big thank you. All of those??? years since you were born have been wonderful. Well, except for years 16 through 18 maybe. Love you.

If I ever remarry, my wife is forbidden from reading your blog. Skip sets the bar too high.

Oh man, I suck! I haven't been reading my blogs. Sorry I missed your birthday. Looked great!

I am a scum.

I missed your birthday.

I was selfishly fighting off my impending nervous breakdown.

Forgiven?

Happy Birthday, I love you.
